Conceptul de „tiny house” a aparut in SUA in ultimele decenii ale secolului XX, dar a luat amploare in urma crizei financiare din 2008, cand multi americani au fost fortati sa-si schimbe stilul de viata. Ceea ce a inceput ca o nevoie a devenit o miscare, cu oameni din intreaga lume imbratisand ideea de a trai in case mai mici, mai eficiente si mai accesibile. Aceasta miscare promoveaza un stil de viata minimalist, concentrat pe esential si pe reducerea impactului asupra mediului.

In Japonia, un teren extrem de dens si valoros a dus la crearea unei culturi a „micro-casatoriilor”, care optimizeaza utilizarea spatiului la maxim. Intr-un sens, acestea sunt precursorii tiny houses din Vest.

Avantajele tiny houses 

Costuri reduse

Principalul avantaj al unei tiny house este costul. Nu numai ca pretul de achizitie este mult mai mic decat al unei case traditionale, dar si costurile de intretinere si cele cu utilitatile sunt drastic reduse.
